Booking & Scheduling

All tastings are by appointment with advance notice. We do not accept walk-ins because the estate is private, and every visit is prepared in advance. If you are hoping to come on short notice, feel free to email us — we can sometimes fit in next-day visit if the schedule allows.

Online booking opens 72 hours in advance. If you’re hoping to visit sooner or need a time that isn’t shown, please email us and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

We host tastings between 11 am and 5 pm. Most visits begin at either 11 am or 2 pm. If you need an alternate start time, you’re welcome to email us and we will see if we can accommodate it. During the summer, when the days are longer, we can often add a later slot.

You may cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your visit for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable, as tastings are private and prepared in advance.

Visit Types & Special Experiences

We offer three experiences. The standard private tasting includes a short walk into the vineyard followed by a seated tasting. This experience can be booked online for up 14 guests. Guests may also choose to arrive at the vineyard by open-air jeep with Cloud Climbers. For anniversaries, proposals, and large groups, we can arrange tailored visits. Please contact us at info@ojaimountainestate.com for planning and securing the date.

Yes. Cloud Climbers offers transportation from anywhere in Ojai to the ridge in one of their open-air vintage jeeps. It is a scenic drive that folds naturally into the visit. Each jeep can accommodate up to 6 people. The tasting experience at the estate remains the same.

We welcome special-occasion visits such as anniversaries, proposals, and corporate groups. These are planned with more time at the estate and the option to add a photographer, light lunch, or décor.

Most tastings up to 14 guests can be booked online. Larger groups are possible with advance arrangements so we can shape the setting, staffing, and pacing accordingly.

Tasting Experience Details

A brief vineyard walk to talk through our farming and mountain site, then a sommelier-guided tasting at the estate with five wines and a small cheese and charcuterie board. We ask guests to notify us of any dietary restrictions in advance.

It is a short, gentle stroll along the first terrace with wide views over Ventura County and the Pacific. The walk is optional and can be shortened or skipped.

No. Some guests may prefer to go straight to the tasting, and the cost remains the same.

Most tastings run about 90 minutes. Since every visit is private, there’s no set pace. Guests can linger with the wines, enjoy the view, or spend more time in the vineyard, so the experience may stretch a bit depending on the group.

You will taste five estate wines. Our focus is on Rhône varieties and Tempranillo. The lineup shifts with the vintage.

Food & Beverage

Every tasting includes a cheese and charcuterie board. If you have dietary needs, please let us know in advance.

Outside food is not needed for standard tastings. For large groups or private events, expanded food options can be arranged ahead of time.

Family & Pets

Yes. Since tastings are private, we allow children to be present. Kids often enjoy the vineyard walk, and we can serve sparkling non-alcoholic cider to feel included. Some guests choose to bring a babysitter to allow grown up tasting and kids are welcome explore the grounds as long as they are supervised.

Leashed dogs are welcome in our outdoor spaces. Because the vineyard is a wild setting, please keep dogs close.

Getting Here

Written directions are sent after booking. GPS can misroute the last part of the drive, so please follow our directions closely, especially for the final turn up the mountain. Please budget 30–40 minutes from downtown Ojai or the Ojai Valley Inn.

Yes. Private parking is available for all guests.

Weather, Comfort & Clothing

The ridge is cooler and breezier than the valley. A light layer is helpful year-round, and in winter the estate can be noticeably colder. Please bring a hat and sunscreen, the sun at 3000 feet is stronger than it feels. Wear comfortable shoes for walking in the field.

Rain is unusual in Southern California, but it can happen. If a significant storm is expected, you’re welcome to keep your appointment, cancel, or reschedule. We ask for a decision at least 24 hours in advance. If you keep the visit, the tasting will be indoors, and vineyard views may be limited. If you prefer to cancel, we will refund the fee. We can also work with you to find an alternative time to reschedule. In rare cases when weather makes the road or ridge unsafe for you or our team, we may need to cancel the visit ourselves and will issue a full refund.
