2023 Syrah

$90.00

88% Syrah, 12% Grenache Blanc

2023 Ojai Mountain Syrah leans toward the northern Rhône in spirit, lifted, savory, and driven by line rather than weight. Bright florals and cool-toned notes of lingonberry, tart cherry, cracked pepper, and lavender set the tone. The palate is precise and medium-bodied, shaped by fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a subtle graphite minerality. Neutral oak stays firmly in the background. At 13.1% alcohol, this is Syrah made for the table, with the structure and balance to age with ease.

Alcohol: 13.1% | pH: 3.79 | TA: 5.4 | Malic Acid: <0.05

Pan-seared duck breast with caramelized apples and black pepper; grilled lamb chops with thyme and charred shallots; wild mushroom risotto with aged Parmesan; roasted root vegetables with rosemary and olive oil.

This Syrah's savory edge and firm structure handle rich, peppery dishes while the Grenache Blanc component keeps things lifted and fresh.

Perfect Pairing

Duck breast with tart apples and black pepper crust. The wine's peppery, herbal character mirrors the seasoning, while firm tannins and fresh acidity cut through the richness.

4 key aspects

Why High-Altitude Wines Stand Out?

Acidity

Acidity

The large diurnal shift of mountains preserves acidity, allowing wines to age well and pair with food.

Minerality

Minerality

Rugged, poor soils cultivate wines with a distinctive touch of minerality.

Bold Tannins

Bold Tannins

Strong ocean winds and UV rays account for thicker grape skins and bolder tannins in wine.

Complexity

Complexity

Natural variability of terrain within blocks and micro-climates enhance blending process, helping to crafting wines with complexity.
